The prime minister gave these orders at a high-level meeting he chaired at the Prime Minister's House on Tuesday. Housing and Works Minister Syed Safwanullah, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Kamran Lashari and other senior CDA officers attended the meeting.
The prime minister said the government has no plan to ban the construction of multistoried buildings, however, he asked the CDA to improve enforcement of laws and improve its inspection and supervision mechanism so that no faulty and substandard construction can take place.
He directed the CDA to improve its system of checking of construction material, building designs, etc. The prime minister also directed the organisation to hire professionally sound lawyers to ensure enforcement of laws.
He asked the CDA chairman to have a more interactive policy and continuously disseminate information to the pubic about buildings, housing societies, etc, which do not fulfil CDA's requirements so that the public can make correct decisions regarding constructing, purchase of plots, houses, flats, etc.
